Join us at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library Saturday, April 12th, 2014 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the 2014 Dallas Book Festival (formally the International Book Fair).

Founded in 2006 the Dallas International Book Fair presented annual literary events showcasing works by internationally acclaimed authors as well as national, regional and local authors representing diverse regions of the world. This family event included artistic and cultural performances, film and book presentations, educational workshops and children’s activities.

The event was renamed in February 2014 as the Dallas Book Festival with a purpose to continue the goal of promoting a love for books, reading and literacy through multilingual and multicultural activities with a focus on spotlighting the city of Dallas and its wide range of ethnic and cultural diversity. For more information contact Ronnie Jessie at: ronnie.jessie@dallascityhall.com or call 214-670-7809.

For previous years' festivals, please see the events page on the Library's website

Featured Presenters

Author Betty Ibarra (presentation in Spanish and English)

Talks about her spiritual awakening and shares with her readers some great life lessons in her book entitled Mi Despertar. She reflects on many personal challenges even from a young age and how perseverance helped her to overcome and eventually achieve her dream of publishing.

Betty believes that all human beings possess the power of knowledge and the ability to awaken that power through preparation and the experience of living. Her main focus is spiritual and she believes that it is important to limit the things that cause us internal pain and that we have the power to change without guilt or fear. We should make these healthy changes by choice and not because someone else says so.
